How to Replace Disc Brake Pads

Swap pads and bed them in

Quick answer

Match the pads to the brake model, take out the old pads, push the pistons back with a plastic lever, fit the new pads, and bed them in before riding normally.

  1. Switch off and remove the battery
  2. Find your brake model

In plain English

Disc pads are held in the caliper by a pin or bolt, often with a spring between them. Pads must match your brake model exactly, so check the model name printed on the caliper. New pads need bedding in before they reach full power.
