Error 42 on Bafang DP E162 / E163 Display

The battery is reporting that its charge or voltage is too low to keep running the motor. Bafang's manuals give charging as the first fix. If a full charge doesn't clear it, the battery may be worn out, and that's a job for a shop.

1. 1Fully charge the batteryFree Plug in the charger and charge until it shows complete (usually a green light), then switch on and test again.
2. 2Check the battery's own switch or keyFree Many batteries have a key or power button of their own that must be on. Make sure it's fully turned or pressed.
3. 3Reseat the batteryFree Switch off and slide or lift the battery out of its mount. Wipe any dirt off the metal contacts on the battery and the mount, then put it back until it clicks and locks.
4. 4Have the battery testedShop job A shop can test the battery and its protection circuit and tell you if it needs replacing. Never open the battery pack yourself.
